AI for finance and Financial Markets: Let’s Explore

The exponential growth of AI is impacting all sectors. You may have noticed the same in the case of the US financial markets. Most importantly, AI is streamlining the banking methodology. For instance, the US financial sector leveraged many new options for online retail banks. Let’s find out the details of AI for Finance.

How Does AI Work Fundamentally?

The most used algorithms of AI for finance can generate deeper insights from the data sets. They can guide customers with personalized banking and investment suggestions. They can also create scope for faster and contactless payments. As a result, the importance of manual work in the financial markets is reduced.

Lastly, fraud protection and extensive cyber security are the other most prominent benefits of AI for finance.

Impact Of AI: New Improvements in The Financial Markets

Impact of AI new improvements in the financial markets

Experts say AI created new horizons for better risk management in the US financial sector. For instance, most US-based fintech corps enjoy better cyber security due to AI.

At the same time, AI plays a crucial role in the regulatory compliance of banking corporations. In the meantime, AI can process large swathes of data to identify patterns and anomalies. Hence, it is an unbeatable tool of anti-money laundering.

AI also made the detection of imposters in banking easier.  For instance, Wells Fargo uses the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technique for KYCs. This is an AI tool.

It can extract digital codes from KYC forms and match them with the information on public databases.

In addition, generative AI has a crucial role in KYC, too. It is one of the phenomenal uses of AI for finance.

AI brings unique tools like liveliness tests and innovative screening to find analogies and anomalies between the original photographs (during KYC) and ID card photos.

It is a critical component of entity verification.

Significant Applications of AI For the Finance Sector

Significant applications of AI for the finance sector

Let’s analyze the areas where AI for finance can be most effective. We will also discuss the critical roles of AI in those sectors.

Reducing workload and improving service efficiency using Chatbots

All chatbots are AI-powered. Chatbots use the natural language process power of generative AI.

But How Do Chatbots Use It?

Chatbots use AI to process and send immediate replies to large volumes of customer queries simultaneously.

Stockgeist is a reputed financial virtual assistant who answers queries regarding the financial market for people in the US.

Such chatbots use accurate time market survey data, existing survey results, and NLP to create expert market suggestions.

Fraud Prevention Through Quicker Detection

Traditionally, US banks use rule-oriented AML and the typical name screening system. However, experts say it may return many false positives.

But AI can detect most malicious transaction patterns. At the same time, AI can detect anomalies in banking data to decipher potential frauds. The same technology can also uncover the unholy association of individual customers with vicious entities.

As a result, the financial market operators can follow a more proactive approach to customer services.

Managing Customer Relationships

Banks can use chatbots to offer 24×7 customized replies to customer queries. Previously, customer calls were redirected 2 to 3 times before someone could answer your query correctly.

However, those days are past.

Suppose you ask Erica, “Which deposit scheme is best for me?”.

Erica is Bank of America’s chatbot for those who don’t know. It will analyze your past data and ask you some simple questions. Then, its algorithm will calculate and give you the best possible suggestions.

Better customer service played a crucial role in improving customer satisfaction at US banks. For instance, BoA’s customer satisfaction grew by 5%. Chase Bank’s score also improved by the same limit.

Predictive Analytics

ML combined with AI for finance can yield the best forecasting results. In financial markets like NYSE and NASDAQ, it may forecast stock revenues, predict stock prices, and monitor the risk of investors’ profiles.

Apps like Stockgeist use such generative AI for predictive analysis.

Experts say that most investors use online apps for investing. They leave trails of digital footprints and share personal data. As a result, AI can track the data. Again, it helps AI make more efficient predictive analyses.

AI in Banks

AI in banks

Ai paradoxically impacts the product and service quality in the US banking sector. It leveraged advanced data handling methods. At the same time, AI also improved banks’ customer experience.

But what are the parameters of improved customer service?

  • Online banking services became simple and easy to understand
  • The service speed increased manifold
  • Traditional banking services have been replaced by customer-friendly online banking

The banks can easily leverage big data now. As an outcome, data analytics has become more accessible, too.

Want to know how data analytics helps banks?

It helps in exploring areas responsible for cost overburn. At the same time, it also helps identify individual resource-exhausting aspects of banking operations.

Data analytics also plays a crucial role in real-time asset management.  Despite using AI in banks, many experts are not enthusiastic about it.  They feel that BFSIs can perform better with the integration of AI.

The emergence of online payment banks and neobanks are prime examples of efficient AI use.

The role of AI in banks’ finances is shrinking every day. On the other hand, a plethora of new opportunities are opening before NBFCs.

Not only online retail. However, many fintech companies are also leveraging the efficient use of AI.

Challenges Of AI For the Finance Sector

Challenges of AI for the finance sector

The implementation and integration of AI can also be a critical challenge in the banking sector.

There’s no questioning that the market of Generative AI reached USD $44.89 billion, before 2023 ended. However, most frontline US banks are banning ChatGPT use.

Banks like Chase, CitiBank, BoA, and others are on this list.

But why?

The reason is simple.

The banks source generative AI assistance from various third parties. And they often don’t conduct due diligence checks. So, daily implementation of these third-party AI services can be risky.

However, there are more precise reasons for excluding ChatGPT. For instance, technology draws data from global users to improve its assessing and responding capabilities.

At the same time, it also depends on user-generated data to develop patterns and create data privacy algorithms.

I mean that the risks are inherent to AI technology.

The consequences may be risky if there is a data leakage from big banks.

Malicious agents can usurp the data and derive patterns that can be used to harm the bank or its customers.

So, I feel that banks can protect customers by cutting off ties like ChatGPT.

How Worse Can It Be?

In May 2023, a fake AI-generated image was published. The image was of an explosion near the Pentagon. It triggered fear. As a result, the value of US stock depleted overnight.

Events like these show that AI can pose significant threats. Experts say that there are various groups ready to take advantage of the weaknesses in financial markets.

There are many fraud financial schemes in the US markets. Most of these schemes are AI-generated. However, such schemes lead to spoofing, like voice cloning, to manipulate the market in dynamic ways.

However, many new applications of AI for finance are emerging. As a result, cyber security will further weaken. But I feel that misinformation can cause even more panic, hampering the financial market.

The Bottom Line……

AI is drastically changing the products and services in the financial markets. For instance, chatbots, automatic trading, AI stock screening, and others are the prime gifts of AI for finance.  However, we learned the lesson that AI can cause disruption in the market,t too. It may pose financial as well as operating risks at great lengths.

Trading Options Using Iron Condors

Trading Options Using Iron Condors

For options traders looking to find a reliable and consistent way to capitalize on the markets with low risk, Iron Condors are an ideal choice. This options trading strategy allows traders to collect rewards no matter which direction the market shifts; however, it can be challenging to get started if you don't have the experience or knowledge of what goes into making an iron condor successful. In this article, we'll look at how exactly iron condors work and provide tips and strategies from experienced options traders on maximizing your advantages when utilizing these options trades. What Are Iron Condors? An Iron Condor is a type of option spread trading strategy used in the stock market. It is suited to volatile markets, as it attempts to exploit fluctuations while still reducing risk. An Iron Condor can generate significant opportunities with limited downside when executed well. The way it works is that the trader buys and sells two different calls or puts of the same underlying asset, creating both a bull and bear spread at once. By simultaneously entering into four separate trades – two puts and two calls – risk is minimized by limiting the maximum loss. All traders should be aware that there are still risks associated with this strategy, as any adverse shift in the underlying price will cause losses that can quickly escalate. However, Iron Condors offer many advantages over more traditional options strategies when used correctly. If you want to learn more about it, Saxo broker Saudi Arabia offers more details. What Are The Advantages Of Trading Iron Condors? When trading Iron Condors, the trader can take advantage of the volatility in the market. Unlike traditional options strategies, where a single option can be advantageous or not depending on whether it expires in or out of the money, an Iron Condor gives traders two different ways to do well. It means that even if one option expires out of the money, as long as the other option does well, it will still be successful overall. It allows traders to enter trades with significantly less risk than they typically have when trading options alone. Another advantage is that Iron Condors allow traders to benefit from both large and small moves in price without taking on excessive risk. Iron Condors are ideal for traders who are not looking to take on large amounts of risk but still want the potential for significant returns. Read Also: ACTC Stock – Present Price, Forecast, Statistics – Should You Invest In It In 2022? What Are The Risks Involved With Iron Condors? Although Iron Condors can provide traders with a low-risk way to trade, it is essential to remember that there are still risks associated with this strategy. Because the Iron Condor involves buying and selling options of the same underlying asset at different strike prices, any adverse movement in the underlying asset price will cause losses. Because of this, traders need to be aware of the potential for losses and should ensure that they are placing appropriate stop-loss orders to limit their losses if the market moves against them. Additionally, Iron Condors also involve complex strategies, so traders must have an understanding of how options work before attempting these trades, as well as have access to reliable sources of information about current market conditions. How To Set Up An Iron Condor Trade? When setting up an Iron Condor, the trader must decide which options they wish to use. It means researching underlying assets and finding ones that meet their volatility and potential return criteria. Once these have been identified, the trader must place four separate trades – two puts and two calls of the same underlying asset at different strike prices. It is important to note that when trading Iron Condors, you should always ensure that the strike prices are within a range where both options will likely expire in the money. For example, if you are trading a put option with a strike price of $50, your call option should also have a strike price within this range, as out-of-the-money options are likely to expire with no value. Once the trades have been placed, managing the Iron Condor will largely depend on the current market conditions and how they affect your options. If one of your options is at risk of expiring out of the money, then it may be necessary to make adjustments by closing out some or all of the trades and re-entering them at different strike prices. Strategies For Success When Trading Iron Condors As with any trading, success when trading Iron Condors will depend mainly on having a sound strategy. It means understanding how the underlying asset you are trading behaves and assessing the potential risks and rewards before entering the trades. It is also important to remember that Iron Condors involve four separate options contracts, so it is crucial to monitor them carefully, as each can affect your overall earnings or loss. Additionally, traders should always use appropriate stop losses to limit their risk exposure and avoid significant losses if market conditions move against them.   #Disclaimer: The information provided on this blog is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be construed as financial advice. Tax Bill

What Will Happen If You Do Not Pay Your Tax Bill? What Are The Next Steps?

There's a saying in life: only two things are certain – death and taxes. Yet, while everyone knows they need to pay their taxes, some people either cannot or choose not to do so. What happens if you don't pay your taxes, and what are the next steps if you find yourself in this predicament? In this blog post, we will explore this issue in depth. Initial Notices And Letters If you haven't paid your tax bill, the first thing you'll receive is letters from the tax authority in your country (the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the US, for instance). These letters are typically polite reminders telling you that you owe taxes and providing instructions for payment. Should you fail to respond to these reminders or choose to ignore them, the letters will progressively become more serious and insistent. Don’t underestimate the importance of these letters – they are an official record of your debt and could have severe legal implications down the line. It's best to consult a tax professional or attorney if you receive these letters to understand what your next steps should be. Remember, you can always find out here about dealing with these notices. Interest And Penalties It's not just the initial tax bill you'll need to worry about if you don't pay your taxes. The amount you owe will continue to grow due to penalties and interest. The IRS, for example, typically adds a failure-to-pay penalty of 0.5% of the total unpaid taxes for every month or portion of the month the tax is left unpaid. Furthermore, this penalty can build up to as much as 25% of your entire unpaid taxes. Tax Liens If your unpaid tax debt continues to grow and remains unresolved, the tax authority may place a tax lien on your assets. This means they have a legal claim to your property, including your house and car, which they can seize to settle your tax debt. A tax lien can wreak havoc on your credit score, making it difficult for you to secure loans or credit in the future. Wage Garnishment And Asset Seizure In extreme cases, if you continue to ignore your tax debt, the tax authority has the power to garnish your wages or even seize your assets, such as bank accounts, to pay off the debt. This is a last resort measure and usually follows several attempts by the tax authority to collect the debt voluntarily. Criminal Charges While rare, it's possible to face criminal charges for not paying taxes. Tax evasion is a serious crime and can lead to fines or imprisonment. However, the tax authority usually reserves this for egregious cases or when they suspect deliberate fraud. Next Steps If You Can't Pay Your Tax Bill So, what can you do if you're unable to pay your tax bill? Don’t panic – there are several options available. 1. Installment Agreements Many tax authorities, including the IRS, offer installment agreements for taxpayers who cannot pay their tax bills in full. This lets you pay tax debts over time in smaller, more manageable amounts. 2. Offer-In-Compromise An OIC or Offer in Compromise refers to an agreement between the tax authority and a taxpayer that stabilizes the tax liabilities of the taxpayer for a reduction from the complete amount owed. However, this is not a guarantee, as the tax authority will take into account your ability to income, pay, expenses, and asset equity. 3. Temporary Delay If the tax authority determines that you're unable to pay the tax debt you own, they may temporarily delay collection until your financial condition improves. In Conclusion While not paying your tax bill can lead to serious consequences, there are options and resources available if you find yourself unable to pay. Remember, the worst thing you can do is ignore your tax bill. It's essential to communicate with your tax authority and seek professional advice if you're having trouble.  Remember, the sooner you address your tax issues, the less severe the penalties are likely to be. So, take action now before a manageable issue turns into a financial nightmare. Household Finances

Family Budgeting 101: Tools And Tips For Managing Household Finances

If you’re the breadwinner, you’re likely very well aware of the financial challenges of raising a family. From staying on top of bills to keeping your kids healthy and happy, there’s a constant push-and-pull of financial responsibilities that requires constant analysis on your part to resolve. In some cases, it can feel all too easy to just buckle down and fall behind financially.  However, formulating a foolproof family budgeting strategy is indeed a possibility, regardless of how your finances currently stand at present.  This can come in various forms, from cutting down on unnecessary costs to using tools to help break down your household’s cash flow. Here are some tools and tips to help you manage your household finances more effectively. 1. Track your budget If you don’t have a budget tracker for your household, prioritize creating one as soon as you can.  A financial tracker is one of the easiest ways to get a good look at your finances, whether it’s your income or bills. This is not only useful in a corporate-level setting, but it’s also helpful for households in monitoring their cash movements. Some trackers even enable users to create financial ratios to help provide them with a clearer picture of their financial standing.  For instance, some trackers have an emergency fund ratio, a ratio that measures how easy it is for liquid assets to be converted to cash in a pinch.  There’s also a savings rate, which is a percentage of how much money you saved over how much you spent on a given period, typically a month. More often than not, budget trackers are used for the simple stuff, namely, inputting your income and expenses. Forming a habit of updating your budget helps keep you mindful of your spending patterns, which can help you make more informed decisions for future spending. 2. Utilise digital tools Technology has seeped its way into every corner of daily life, and in the realm of financial tracking, this is no different. In fact, many software tools and applications today can streamline the budgeting and tracking process, turning what may be minutes or hours of mind-numbing work into mere seconds of computerized processing.  This calculator from Westpac is one such tool, among many other budget calculators, that can help you crunch data and project how much money you’ll need before you reach a financial benchmark. Furthermore, some tools can help keep you informed and notified about any issues related to your finances. For instance, some apps can remind you when your latest bills are due. Other apps can also provide an easy-to-read graph of your expense breakdown. Budgeting is a comprehensive activity that involves a lot of moving parts. There’s bound to be a digital app or extension that helps make that one budgeting process much easier and more approachable. Some good budgeting apps to help start you off include Mint, YNAB, and Quicken. 3. Set budget goals  Every family has different budget goals that set them apart. Some families may be saving up for a new car, while other families are saving up to buy a new house. A few households may not have such grand purchases in mind and would rather climb out of a hole of debt. Having a goal is important because it gives you a target to aim for. The presence of this goal allows you to reverse engineer your decisions and strategize your financial behavior to actualize that goal. If the financial goal seems like a far-off fantasy, you can start breaking it down into smaller and more achievable chunks. You can establish figure-related milestones, like saving a certain amount each month or lowering your weekly expenditures.  By having these short-term goals, you can find it easier to track your progress and adjust your purchase behaviour accordingly. 4. Pay off your debts immediately Financial management isn’t only about saving money and boosting your income—it also requires proper debt management.  Debt, on its own, isn’t inherently bad. If you can guarantee that you can pay it on time, then having this infusion of funds in your hands can be used to pay off bills and other critical expenses. That said, having unpaid debt can be disastrous for your financial health. For instance, unpaid credit card and loan dues can incur high interest rates over time. Some loan types may also require borrowers to pay late fees for delayed payments.  These can all add up, especially if you let the debt run for multiple months. So as soon as you earn income or receive money, be sure to pay off these debts immediately, starting with the debts that have been around the longest. 5. Uphold family financial values Family financial management is a team effort. You don’t want to be the only one restricting your spending while your spouse and/or children splurge for whatever they want, especially if they’re dependent on your income. As such, you should teach your kid key financial values as early as possible. Teach them the scarcity of money, the value of money, the importance of saving, the importance of holding off from wants, and other healthy money habits. You should also communicate finances with your spouse honestly and openly. Being on the same page is important for not just your financial health, but also your relationship at large.  This can promote harmony and stability within the family unit, as well as foster the right foundation for proper money management. 6. Minimise unnecessary spending It’s crucial for all members of the family to commit to lowering their spending. Living below your means can seem tough, but it can be approached in several ways. For instance, instead of buying lunch in the cafeteria or at restaurants, just prepare a packed lunch from home. Also, avoid buying random snacks and drinks throughout the day.  You should also look into your monthly subscriptions and see if there are any monthly payments you’re making that aren’t being used. Cancel these unused subscriptions, and urge your family to do the same. Furthermore, find ways you can lower your expenditure by buying things at lower rates. You can use discounts, coupons, and vouchers to lower the cost of products and services that you and your family need.  Being proactive and scouring for these discounts through email newsletters or partnered websites can be a good way to score a good deal. 7. Be flexible Here’s a cold, hard truth: things will never always go as planned. Emergencies can and often will happen, and many of these emergencies are capable of wiping a significant portion of your savings away.  As such, it’s important to develop contingency plans in your budget in case these events do occur.  For starters, you can try to make an emergency fund as a financial cushion in case a sudden bad event happens. Besides that, always be mindful of your and your family’s lifestyle habits and make the necessary financial adjustments.  If you find that your savings rate is decreasing month-on-month because of added expenses, for instance, you may have to think hard and reevaluate your budget’s goals. Being flexible is an important value to possess to be able to navigate financial difficulties effectively. Sticking with one goal stubbornly when the situation around you changes can spell your downfall, so be receptive to change and be prepared to call new shots.
